go public with the following official proclamation:
"Let it be known that we, the
captain and crew of Harmonie, are indeed ready for the longest sailing
leg on earth to end."
End proclamation.
(The word 'indeed' is
included here to please our British readers as it seems
to be another favorite word of theirs.)
Marquesas Semi-Useless Factoid #15:
Hiva Oa, the first island we will be visiting, is
renowned as the last home and burial site of Paul Gauguin, the French
painter.

ps: Still no fish, although a monster did run
off with Don's favorite fake squid lure and a couple of feet of 100 lb test
line. Don will probably emerge from his depression as soon as we
anchor safely and he downs his first scotch.
