We left the Fakarava lagoon as planned just before
noon Saturday (4/26) and motored through the night until 6:30 this morning when
the wind decided to make an appearance. Now, of course, we are sailing a
bit too fast and will have to slow down during the night so that we arrive in
Tahiti after sunrise. All is going well and we are within sight of Cleone,
who is about one mile to the south of us.
One clarification on the night watch hazard random
phrase source identification -
'The Night of the King's Castration' is not a play,
but is more of a bawdy poem or drinking song. This makes sense as it is
more likely Don would have heard the drinking song at some point in his life
rather than seen a play. And, if in fact it is a drinking song, the
fact that Don can't remember hearing it also fits. As a young man, Don
could very well have been dozing when the song snuck into his
head and lodged itself into his subconscious only to come back and haunt
him during night watch years later.
Still no fish.
