As Kathie recovered on February 17th, we moved all of two miles from Koh Roi to Koh Kudu.  Here the scenery was similar (although not quite as spectacular), but the real attraction was anchoring ourselves in the small bay formed by tall Koh Kudu and a neighboring smaller island such that shade arrived early at 4 pm when the burning late afternoon sun was blocked by an island.  If this Phang Nga Bay tour with the Maloneys ever ends up as a chapter in a book, the chapter title might be 'In Search of Shade'.  Throughout their two-week stay, Kathie was heard to ask on several occasions, "Was it this hot when the Browns were with you?"  We weren't sure whether a yes or no answer would make her feel better, so we said what was true - we spent more time in marinas with the Browns because the coast of Malaysia doesn't have gorgeous Thailand anchorages.  More time in marinas meant more air conditioning, but only at night since we were usually out and about during the day.  Also, Bryan's head only radiated 101.something degrees of heat when he was sick as opposed to Kathie's impressive 103.9.  In total, if we had the forethought to collect and measure the sweat puddles we all produced over the Brown's and Maloney's two-week stays, the Maloneys might have won by a hair, or, more appropriately, a drop.
