Another day, another island.

On May 12th, we had a lovely beam sail (ok, it wasn't downwind, but wind on the beam is almost as good) 20ish miles west to Brampton Island.  The sun showed itself and by noon the cabin was over 80 degrees.  All was right with the world.  Or at least our odd piece of it.

Picture 1 - The view from Lookout Louise.  Brampton Island is another national park island, with a small section set aside for a private resort and airstrip.  The resort wasn't much to look at, but Sue, Don and I did enjoy the walking trail up to Lookout Louise.  It was a cloudy, hazy day so the view didn't show itself off as much as it could have.  Even so, you can see a few drowned mountain islands in the background.  Also, in case you didn't notice, that's Don standing there on top of Lookout Louise.  The same Don who two months before couldn't even walk.  Amazing how the human body heals.

Pictures 2 and 3 - A tennis playing kangaroo and his airplane pilot friends.  We always thought kangaroos were just like deer - except for that hopping thing and the whole baby in the pocket deal - but this group appeared to be highly talented, hanging around the resort tennis court and airstrip like they were.  Check out the tails on these creatures.  This is the first time we've been so up close and personal with a mob of kangaroos.  We've never noticed how much they use their tails for balance - it's really like a third hind leg.  Wouldn't want to pick a fight with these guys.  Just the tail alone could probably do some mighty damage.

Picture 4 - Maryport Bay beach at low tide.  Gorgeous!  That's Don on the beach and our boat in the distance.
