Not too bad

The second day of a sailing passage is always
better. We should know this by now. Even if the sailing is worse,
the crew is usually better on the second day. Today both
the sailing and the crew are better. We've had light to moderate
winds behind us since the downwind rig went up yesterday morning and
we have been gently rolling along at 5 to 7 knots for the past 24
hours. As the Kiwis would say, 'not too bad' (for proper Kiwi
pronunciation, draw out the 'toooooo' and add an inflection up on the
end of 'baaaad').
We have a little less than 500 miles to go before
we arrive at Minerva Reef, assuming the weather is cooperative enough for us to
stop there. That's about another 2 1/2 days. Again, not toooooo
baaad. If we carry on straight to Tonga, it's about another 4 1/2 days
from here. Either way, we are doing fine and the weather is behaving
very nicely so far.
If all continues to go well, we might even shower
today and Don might even shave.
