The rest of our 30ish hour trip to Gaspe Bay
went fine, and during that time, several fairly momentous events took
place:
1) Don started to relax and act more
like a retired person (see proof below)
2) We went as far north as we are ever
going to go on this trip (49.06 degrees north latitude) and turned south at 11am
on Monday, 7/30 (major cause for celebration)
3) Many, many confirmed dolphin sightings
occurred. And it's true, dolphins will come and swim alongside your boat
as they did with our boat on this day. Proof below (not a bad
picture when compared with the whale picture that looked like a hunk of
floating white plastic). Dolphins swimming alongside your boat is a
very cool thing.
4) We successfully completed the first (of many to
come) overnight passage of this trip.
We arrived in Gaspe Bay after rounding the Gaspe
Cape at about 6pm. This area is incredibly pretty and very
remote (no cell phone service and only a couple very
small towns) with high cliffs and generally mountainous terrain.
Pictured below is the lighthouse on the Gaspe Cape, which marks the northern
entrance to the bay. Also attached below is a picture of the view we
had of a small fishing village from our anchorage. We slept
well.
