We arrived in Montreal on Wednesday (7/18/07) after passing through the last two locks and under the last three liftbridges with no trouble.  We originally intended to stay at a marina in Longueuil (across the river from Montreal) near our friends Real and Sylvie's house, but a phone call to the marina revealed that there was no way we would fit (big marina, shallow water).  So, with expert help from Real, we were able to secure a spot at the Port of Call, which is in the old port of Montreal.

This is an excellent location - right in the midst of 'Old Montreal'.  Getting here, however, was a bit of a challenge.  We had to motor upriver for about 1.5 miles, which doesn't sound like much...but when the current is 4.5 knots, the wind is against you, the engine is going full blast and the boat is only moving at 1.2 knots over the ground, you start to wonder if getting there is even possible.  After about an hour, we did get here, and have found that aside from the Marie Clarisse (pictured below), there are no other sailboats in this marina.  We figure no one else was brave enough to make the trip.  Anyway, leaving should be a breeze.

Also pictured is the Olympic Stadium (built for the 1976 Olympics) taken by Bob as we passed by on the river.  Oh, and I should mention that not only was Bob taking excellent pictures as we were battling the current and the wind, but Suzanne and I (mostly Suzanne) were baking bread.  Yup, bread.  On the boat.

More later on our adventures here in Montreal with our incredible hosts Real and Sylvie.
