Like the Energizer Bunny....still going.

Slower, less wind, smaller waves, but still going.  Still looking at Thursday as our arrival date.

In the meantime, we are doing laundry, fishing (still no fish!!), defrosting the freezer, changing the engine oil, baking brownies, etc..  You know, normal household stuff - all done while bouncing along at 6.5 knots in the middle of the Pacific.

The weather forecast is good, although the winds are supposed to continue to get lighter.  We'll go slower, but the ride should be nice and smooth.

Everyone is starting to get antsy.  Some of the other boats with larger crew are starting to get creative in their boredom.  Storyteller (Australian) emailed an original poem, 'Ode to Tuna' to the fleet yesterday.  I am trying to get permission to reprint it on our website.  If I am successful, you will get to enjoy it in a few days time.  Southern Princess (Australian) followed up with an email of their own describing the trials and tribulations they had with a plugged toilet.  It involved high anxiety and a lot of 'evil smelling stuff'.  These are the kinds of things that keep us boaters entertained while sailing slowly across the expanse of the Pacific.

Now it's time for...
Marquesas Semi-Useless Factoid #12:
After the Spaniard Alvaro Mendana 'discovered' the islands in 1595, Cook, Ingraham and the Frenchman Marchand sighted the remaining islands between 1774 and 1791.  The Marquesas became a French protectorate in 1842 after a treaty was signed between Admiral du Petit Thouras and the native chiefs.
The islands have been French ever since.
