Who says you can't multitask on a sailboat?  This picture is proof that it is possible to sail, do laundry, fish (the fishing line is not shown in the picture, but is trailing off the back of the boat at the time the picture was taken, honest) and eat breakfast - all at the same time.  Try doing that at home!

Things continue to go well.  We are currently sailing 50 miles off the coast of Colombia and are located about 300 miles from the entrance to the Panama Canal.  We expect to arrive at the marina in Panama sometime between 11pm Tuesday night and 5am Wednesday morning.

The sailing Saturday night, yesterday (Sunday) and last night was positively gorgeous - a bit slow on Sunday due to light wind, but fast at night and smooth the whole way.  We both slept well for the first time on Saturday night, which was cause for celebration.  Our celebration consisted of a freshly cooked dinner Sunday evening (as opposed to pulling a casserole out of the freezer, microwaving it, and proclaiming it dinner) complete with vegetable and background music by the Moody Blues and The Beatles, topped off by a large dose of the Fiddler on the Roof soundtrack (this is Don's favorite musical - not sure why.  Maybe because it's about bucking tradition??).  Are we living the life or what?

Here's a word from our esteemed captain Don:
This downwind sailing thing is a lot like skiing.  When skiing, all trails go down and all lifts go up.  Hiking up a trail is possible, but not the most enjoyable thing.  When sailing, downwind is best.  It is possible to sail upwind (we've done plenty of that), but it is not the most enjoyable thing.

This sailing/skiing analogy should work well for all of you snowbound northerners.

Cheers
Anne and Don
