At anchor off Piccolo marina in the bay of Poetta just east of Cagliari 08/05/15

We left Villasimius on Friday morning and had a gentle motor sail to the large sandy bay some 15 miles to the west where we had decided to spend a night at anchor before the predicted increase in winds from the North arrived.

The water was crystal clear and we soon had the anchor down and decided on a swim before supper. The temperature of the water showed 20 C so Watson and Jacky had a good 10 minutes swim around the boat and checked on the anchor position and chain. It was refreshing and we were both glad of a warm shower afterwards. We were later thrilled to see flocks of Flamingo flying low overhead and discovered that there is a huge Marine Reserve just behind the beach which is favoured by these lovely birds in the late spring each year.

The following morning we set off for Cagliari as the forecast was for strong winds over the weekend.
