Loch Spelve III

Up early dressed and ready to move when a final check of the forecast found 95% rain and wind promised for the next six hours, rain soon began hammering down on the deck and TC swayed in the windy gusts funnelling down the glen.

An amount of dithering, discussing and indecision followed until we went with our gut instincts to reach the only sensible decision; remain at anchor and sit this one out. Our destination was going to be quite a tricky entrance and the visibility was rubbish.

So we made use of the time to check through the food store, sort photos, read and generally relax. Most of you will know Bol and me well enough to know this sort of relaxed day is totally out of character so it was a pleasant change. Thankfully the promised forecast of a calm dry evening arrived so we had another lovely walk along a different route around the Loch. Still the only boat in the anchorage, TC made a lonely sight in the vast scenery, barely visible from the farthest point of our walk.

Otters, dolphins and seals have been spotted today and sandpipers joined in the birdsongs identified. The background roar from all directions of new waterfalls confirmed how much water had fallen these past 24hrs, as well as bailing out a very waterlogged tender.

We’ll be on the move tomorrow.
