A typical wet Saturday, Sines

Bol has downloaded a book on the French Canals which makes enticing reading. With rain rattling on the coach roof most of the day it is good to have something sunny to distract being cooped up all day. The children have been very good, Bol spent a patient morning with Harry going through the tackle boxes and sorting out all his fish tackle, old and new. The old dates back to his Uncle Len days, 1940!

Harry has started "Thursday's Child's Fish Log" to record everything that has been caught. Everyone had a go at making Monkey Fists.

Harry said he'd like to cook some biscuits so we found a recipe for, believe it or not, "Yarmouth Biscuits". Two trusty assistants soon had 2oz flour, 4oz caster sugar, 2oz butter, 3oz raisins and 1 egg smeared all over the work tops and engine cover, some ended up in the mixing bowl, the rest was licked off umpteen spoons and spatulas. As per most storm bound days, today was broken up with meals. One too many eggs was broken so it's pancakes for pudding.

One of our neighbours here in the anchorage kept having to paddle his yellow Labrador ashore for a run, he timed most of his return journeys just as the heavens opened poor chap. Harry would love to have a run on the beach but neither Bol or I could face inflating the dinghy in the rain. Now the makey doey stuff is all over the table so Isabelle is happy.

So, a typical wet Saturday.
