Alcaidesa Marina, La Linea, Spain

We're in the throws of a very dramatic easterly 'levanter'; gale, storm, call it what you like but the Marina here is pretty unprotected and TC is heeling at her mooring, palms trees are leaning over and the gusts take your breath away and stop you in your tracks. Took a walk to the eastern shore and admired the waves with the air above thick with a salty mist, we weren't the only people taking photographs.

There are some interesting statues around, we passed a rather moving one called "The Evacuation of the Gibraltarians 1940~1951" dedicated to those who were sent to England, Ireland, Jamaica, Cape Verde, Maderia and French Morocco. Another is dedicated to the "Cross Border Workers", there is a daily stream of workers in both directions going on foot, on bike, by bus and by car.

We are very close to the runway and enjoyed seeing planes taking off and landing from the boat. Popped across the border to Gibraltar and the children saw what 'no-mans land' looks like.

Tomorrow hopefully a bus trip to Algeciras on the other side of Gibraltar Bay.
