Harry has been very keen to get me to walk to the top of the rock with him after he went up with Jojo some days ago, so today we were underway by 07.00 and reached the summit at 08.00 in time to watch the sun start to rise over the Mediterranean. It was a beautiful sunny morning and thankfully their was only a very light breeze as the air temperature was decidedly cool before the sun rose.

The barbury apes are amazing to watch as they are completely indifferent to the heights at which they are living. One animal ran towards us when we arrived by bounding down the edge of a steep rock face before running round the outside edge of the viewing platform we were standing upon. The ledge was at most around 8 inches wide. If it had slipped at all it was a vertical drop of 300 meters on one side into the darkness.

By the time we were back down to the boat the sun was just reaching the cockpit over the rock and breakfast was well earned. It has been one of the pleasures of the cruise to have the boat as a retreat moored in the middle of a city, always waiting for us when we return tired after exploring.
