Bol wasn't the only one muttering this morning with the wind blowing a perfect 10 knots off shore, to make things worse another neighbour left before dawn to head south. However, we felt better when the wind grew and the neighbours returned talking of 30 knots out to sea.

The weather then really closed in and it rained and blew all day. We hunkered down, did some more on Nelson which has grabbed the children's imagination wonderfully, especially with the Battle of Cape St Vincent down the coast from here.

'The Dangerous Book for Boys' and 'The Daring Book for Girls' then occupied us for hours, 34ft is a small area and the saloon is even smaller so it was a fairly intensive day of activities, but it passed pleasantly enough and Isabelle helped make cakes for tea.

Bol put up a water catcher (a tarpaulin with a hose pipe in the middle leading into a water cannister) so hopefully from now on we can collect water in a very simple way.

Luckily by 7pm the wind and weather had calmed so we took a football ashore. The children were very excited to see bats here for the first time, very appropriately bats from the dungeons of the castle.

Tomorrow calmer, Wed-Thurs forecasted more wet and wind but hopefully by the weekend a chance to head on south. Fingers crossed, we're starting to get itchy feet! Oh heck, Harry has set the alarm clock again as he wants to go digging for ragworm at low tide which is before dawn. Come on northerlies, we need to get back out to sea.
