Muros to Portosin

A stunning sunrise and then after a brief school (just diaries today) the children went ashore to do more trawling. Much excitement as they caught a small flat fish, more spider crabs, two cuttlefish and some crabs. Interestingly the bigger cuttlefish changed its colour when it went from shade to sunshine, it was white in the sunshine and dark green in the shade.

A delightful Swede next to us in the anchorage is planning on a solo transatlantic in his 24ft boat. He and his girlfriend were rowing around the anchorage this morning in their swim gear, enjoying the scenery and watching Harry and Isabelle trawling. He called over to us, chuckling, "Are you living your dream?" It was hard to improve on the moment. We feel very lucky.

The forecast is for strong southerlies at the end of the week so we upp'd anchor and had a pleasant hour sail across the Ria to Portosin which we thought would be more protected. There are people fishing everywhere you look tonight, on the rocks, on the sea wall, on the beach, on boats all around, including one who came right by TC and laid two crab pots. It was interesting to watch one large fishing boat taking on 400kg of ice into his hold from an overhead gantry and then setting off into the Atlantic for the night. A tough life.

Bol had a couple of hours ashore with the children this afternoon, they made boats out of feathers, cuttlefish bones and sticks. They also had a go at making a kite and flying it from the dinghy. Not many dull moments on board.
