At anchor, Cascais, Nr Lisbon

Safely at anchor in Cascais Bay near Lisbon with a warm wind blowing off the land. We had a second beautiful night sail that wasn't so dark thanks to the loom of Lisbon ahead of us. The warm northerly wind blew all night and it was quite exciting to see the lights of Cascais and Lisbon get brighter as the hours slipped by. We decided to stop here and not rush past Lisbon with its ancient and interesting history so will be here a few days.

Bol was well throughout which was such good news and so we were able to stand our watches. The last few hours always seem to take ages but it was dramatic with cruise ships, cargo ships and aeroplanes above us coming into Lisbon, certainly no dull moments. We approached the anchorage about 7am this morning accompanied by a pod of dolphins, they were jumping out of the water so close to the boat when Bol went to put the anchor down he got wet from the splash! Just as the anchor went down the children woke up full of beans, we felt totally exhausted so sat down to bacon and eggs before bribing them to watch some Blue Planet DVDs whilst we kipped!

We still have decisions to make about the longer term plan and will keep you posted. Further thanks to advice which is really appreciated, Med, Canaries or Caribbean..... nice choices!
