Pretty amazing and lovely to be able to Skype Hamish on his birthday, in the midst of a deep snow blizzard in New Hampshire. Harry and Isabelle are fast growing up with electronic navigation aids and Skype available on the mobile phone, we often talk about how things will be when they are sailing with their families, perhaps everyone's mobiles will be satellite phones and car keys will have GPS bleepers on them.

There is a strong Jewish area here and today we had a very amusing time in a charity shop that supports local Jewish families in Gibraltar. All four of us were delighted to find clothing to take us through the next few months; our Christmas clothes are doing fine, but you'll have noticed Isabelle constantly in her favourite green fleece, so thought it time to add to the meagre collection of clothes board!

Back onto the subject of fishing... we need a more efficient way of reeling in the long fishing line that is 60m of 4mm string, fortunately a very friendly fishing shop owner gave us the empty reel which was ideal and so Harry and Bol had some workshop time turning it into something usable. We'll use it when we go to Ceuta across the Straits of Gibraltar.

A very beautiful and dramatic moon rise over the Rock, scudding clouds and shrieking rigging as 30 knots howls through the area yet again. The Pilot Book says 300 days have 30 knots of wind here!
