Alcoutim on Boxing Day

We hope you all had a great Christmas Day? Ours was a very gentle and happy day, fortunately Auntie Caroline said she would leave a note to Father Christmas on Isabelle's bed at Shalfleet so Isabelle's worries were put to rest when much to her surprise and amazement her stocking was filled in the night.

We chuckled that we needed to have Christmas lunch before the tide turned - with the tide ebbing the cockpit was in sunshine and out of the wind, so pudding was down below as the tide had turned putting the cockpit into the shade and in the wind!

Our party on Christmas Eve was in the beautiful setting of Christian and Polly's "finka" ~ the house they built themselves on the river bank, with lovely food and party games for young and old alike.  There were lots of very friendly folk who have stumbled upon the River Guadiana and ended up staying, some afloat and some ashore, but all near the river and all owning boats to escape the 40+ degree heat of the summer months.

So now the children are playing in the sunshine in the cockpit with their lego and the only traffic going by is the Kayak Club going for a Boxing Day paddle.
