Rota

The day began grey and rainy which helped our exit from 'the best beach ever' and we headed north to Rota, 40 miles away. We could make out Cape Trafalgar lighthouse through the mist and were pleased to give it a wide berth as there was a large breaking swell all around it.

The photo shows the highlight.... a good fishing result! Both were caught off Sanci Petri within a few minutes of each other, they weigh 2lb and 2.5lb and we think they are Pollock.

Wonderfully just after we'd tied up in Rota Marina, another sailing family walked by and said Hi, after a quick exchange, Harry asked if they'd like to share our two fish with us. As they had a cooker that could fit two fish we have just had a lovely evening on board Kivu eating Harry's fish!

Unfortunately when we returned to TC, she was aground and balancing on her keel, us getting on board has tipped TC over at rather an alarming angle and we are now waiting for the tide to rise (soon) so we can move her. A very unnatural feeling to be sitting at the chart table writing this at an angle. We will be giving feedback to the marina staff in the morning.

Nice to be back in Rota. We plan to be here this week and catch a bus to Seville for an overnight in a hotel.
