River Vascão

The peacefulness of last night just had to be enjoyed with a wee Dram in the cockpit, literally the only sounds were cicadas on both sides of the river and fish jumping all around, magic. Not that it was 'grown up time' as we were soon joined by our Night Owl who spotted us from her bunk. Isabelle's bunk at the back of the boat has a spyhole into the cockpit!

Sunshine and 30 degrees again today, 27 inside the boat. Bee-eaters paid us several visits, there must be a thermal at the entrance to the Vascão as Bee-eaters along with a Stork were spotted circling above TC, their unusual call a little more familiar. With sunlight behind them, their wings glisten a rainbow of colours, really stunning.

Back up the river to the Roman weir for another swimming, snorkelling, paddling session. Harry has a little underwater camera that he has been experimenting with whilst we play around with the GoPro. It is very helpful to look at the video footage the same evening and we are all learning small useful things like turning the camera on and have it pointing the right way up ...

No photos this week as this is sent via satellite phone ~ also we aren't able to download any emails so will reply when we return to Alcoutim.
