We have made it to Cornwall! After a comfortable night at Plymouth in the lee of "Wilderness Point" we headed out of the harbour late morning. The fair tides are being very kind on us by not kicking in until late morning so enabling us to have slow mornings which we all appreciate. It is amazing how long things take to do, I suppose we will get quicker in time.

We then had an absolutely cracking sail along the coast, beautiful sunshine and tide helping us along. It was some 20 miles to the entrance to Fowey which was difficult to identify from the sea but thanks to the huge 71M high red and white landmark on the cliffs above enabled us to have an idea where to look. Having been brought up with papercharts only we are really enjoying the luxury of having the addition of "Navionics" a GPS based navigation system which you can zoom in and out, and which updates the boat's position every minute or so. So with both paper and electronics systems on board, plus a stack of pilot books, we are able to workout what's what and where's where pretty well.

We are now tied up on a visitor's pontoon in the River Fowey. Much to the children's amusement an enormous Barrell Jellyfish floated past us in the beautiful clear water, it must have been 2ft in diameter, but the fast flowing tide meant it didn't hang around long before it bumped its way along the other moored boats and on up river.

We had a pleasant walk ashore, it feels very different to anywhere else with narrow streets and many small, interesting and enterprising shops. It is good to be here, we've always known about Fowey so it is rewarding to make it here finally having sailed past its entrance in the past.
