Well, we awoke to a very gentle breeze which was a slight relief after a tricky decision of whether to leave last night or not! The breeze did not increase until about lunchtime and even then we would have struggled to make much head way in the swell.

So we reverted to school (or "Harassed" as the children called it - something to do with how the parents feel after a session of school??) again this morning and learnt about the first part of Admiral Nelson's career and how it related to the area we are currently sailing. Isabelle was horrified to hear that people were actually whipped in those days.

Then after lunch the captain looked at the task list and decided to mend the cockpit trim that had been working its way loose and needed re-glueing. The job was quite easy, but required all the cockpit lockers to be emptied to fit the appropriate equipment for the job. Isabelle helped the skipper by hoovering up the mess he made and inspected the deepest lockers to see how the water-maker works.

The next item on the list was to scrub the hull as we are trying to keep ahead of the weed that insists on growing. All the kit was laid out and the entire crew called on deck to do their duties. We managed to scrub about a quarter of the underneath before hot chocolate was required to warm everyone up again. It was actually not a bad temperature, but a bit murky under the hull, but many hands make light work. With luck we should have it spotless by the end of the week.

Inside the boat a stock-take was carried out, as weather permitting, re-victualling will take place tomorrow at the Carrefour which we have just heard exists across the bay.

All for now
