Stardate  Nov 28, 2006: We have survived our first night at sea, but appear to have been left way behind by everyone else. Yesterday we were in the middle of 225 yachts, today the horizon is clear all around us. There is not so much wind as we had hoped, but it is in the right direction, and that is good! No interesting stories so far, just quite hard work, reefing and unfeefing the sails, and changing the spinnaker pole from one side to the other: I had not anticipated doing this very often, but the winds south of the Canaries take more than 100 miles to settle into a pattern. Our towed generator is working very well, but I hope that this does not put the kiss of death on it!!
