Hope that gives us a map position, a bit rusty with my map reading, and all matters nautical after a twelve month break from cruising. However here we are, off again, retracing my steps last year from Malaysia, where Fleck has been moored over winter, to Singapore where she was hauled out, antifouled, and various other bits of the jobs list tackled, and now we are in Indonesia once more. A bit of a scare over an item called a temporary import bond, but my friend Putu, in Jakarta, says not to worry and so tomorrow off we go. This morning we took on plenty of fuel, spare jerrycans on the foredeck (2), and in the cockpit (3). Then I discovered that there was no electricity: both the alternator and the solar panel were on the blink. Just loose connections as it turned out, and now the power is flooding into my brand new and very expensive US made Singapore sourced batteries. Plan to Jakarta is to Island hop as much as possible, but there will be at least two nights at sea with fishing fleets, and I daresay thunderstorms for company, so fingers crossed for a safe trouble free passage. I anticipate that there will be very little sailing, light winds are forecast, mostly right on the nose: hence the fuel. Even in Indonesia this costs close to a pound sterling per litre, and you don't need to know how much a 9 ton boat consumes as she chugs along. If anyone out there is on good terms with their God, put in a good word for me, and for Birmingham City in the playoffs.
