Oulia's last day (17 June 2023)

Oulia is leaving today. She has to be on the airport at 17:00 so we have all day. Finally we can sleep in. We wake up at about 09:00, have a very lazy morning, enjoying our time together, have a swim, have a coffee, nothing interesting and that makes it so nice after a full, but wonderful program the last days. We have a late breakfast and decide to snorkel on the lagoon close to the boat. With the dingi we go a little bit more to the rif, looking for some coral where we will dive into the water. There are not many rocks. Yesterday evening we hit a lot, this afternoon, we find only two. At the moment we dive into the water Nicolas discovers that we lost a peddle. Oeps, a little bit to much rum the night before. After hitting some rocks at night we decided to put the motor up and peddle till its deep enough. Unfortunately we didn’t secure the peddle enough, so it decided to find a new life in the ocean. We ankered the dingi and snorkeled around. Not much to see accept for a tiger fish, which was absolutely beautiful. Back on the boat Nicolas took his change to finally get rid of his beard. While Ioulia shaved his head among other things, I shaved his beard. Slowly this Al-Qaida fighter turned into a Swiss gentleman again. God that was necessary. Oulia packed her bags. She gave me her crocs, for what I am very grateful to her. Never expected that I would ever wear crocs in my life, but here they are unmissable. We had a nice lunch on board. And Ouilia had a last enjoyable view on the ocean before we went on the shore to get a last goodbye beer. No bar was open on a Saturday afternoon. We were completely surprised. The supermarket was open, but no cold beers in the fridge. We ended up with a warm beer in the harbour. A last Santééééé. Joe picked her up with the taxi, a last hug and there she goes. We will miss you girl! Back to the dingi some fisherman gave us a nice cold beer. They were stoned as a shrimp as we say it in the Netherlands, but very sweet. And than we went back on the boat. Finally we knew what road to take to not hit any corol. It was quite on the boat, with only two people left. We had a nice drink and waited to see the plane of Oulia taking off. Bye girl, have a good flight, it was a pleasure to have you on board. Marlies |
