Nov & Dec 2012 in Matthews - Boatyards & Pizza

Nimue
Fri 14 Dec 2012 21:27
Zimmerman’s own another boatyard further south in the Chesapeake; just outside a small town called Matthews.  We had heard that it was a beautiful place to have the boat lifted, so on one of our ‘days off’, we drove the big red truck to pay it a visit.  Max, the yard manager was busy hauling out boats, in preparation for the arrival of Hurricane Sandy, so we had a wander around and the reports about it’s beauty were true and even more so on our visit, as it was very Autumnal (or “Fall”). Unfortunately, Nimue’s draft is just too deep to be hauled here!

Located nearby is the town of Matthews and we were highly recommended to visit a bar/restaurant called ‘Southwinds’ to try their homemade pizza.  Wow, it was good and in fact we made frequent visits, especially on Thursday evenings, as it’s where folk gather to play their musical instruments – mainly guitars, in an ‘open mic’ type evening.
