Anchored off Alcoutim

The barometer is reading so high, 1034, and we're enjoying the settled weather very much, probably appreciating it having sat through so much wind and rain in the last two months! We were sad to receive an email from Lewis and Theresa (Sines/chess & Portimao/bicycles) that they never made it to the Canaries but were beaten back by bad weather and are now sitting safely in Cadiz up the coast from here.

We left our beautiful spot off the Rio Vascao after breakfast and puttered slowly with the tide the few miles downstream to Alcoutim & Spanish Sanlucar de Guadiana. We are now anchored in the middle of the river in the company of quite a few yachts over-wintering or living here full time, we can definitely see why one would get this far and not really bother about going any further!

We had a quick run ashore to Alcoutim to find a very pleasant town which we are looking forward to exploring more tomorrow.

Here are some photos of the last few days.
