This morning the seas started to build
to small waves, around 3ft, and the wind increased to 18 knots, a
consistent force 5. We were on a beam reach with the spinnaker up, and had
long periods when the speed did not drop below 8-10 knots. The maximum
speed we had was 12 knots, which was very exhilerating. Being wave
assisted, it really felt like a sleighride.
 It was a beautiful sunny day and we all feel as
though we have caught some rays. It is definitely getting hotter and we
are now in the tropics, since we are south of the Tropic of Cancer, at 23
degrees North - we are currently at 20 degrees North. It has been quiet on
the VHF radio today, partly because the ARC boats are starting to spread
out and most are out of range. We have seen two sailing yachts since
this morning, but no shipping at all. We were encouraged by the weather
reports of Tropical Storm Delta starting to change direction and predictions
that it will start to move NNE tomorrow. This would mean its
centre would not come within 1000 miles of our proposed route.
 We have not fished today as we still have fish left
over from yesterday. Time to go, as rum punches are being
poured...
