Tuesday 2nd September 2014. Another dry day motoring along the Great Glen through Loch’s Oich and Lochy enjoying the lovely scenery. Spean Bridge is about 3 miles from the canal at this point and John & Ev have to get there in the morning for the bus back along the Glen to their car.

We (not Frans of course) took a taxi up to Spean Bridge and dispatched the crew then walked back. An interesting little place with the Commando Memorial dedicated to the men of the original units training areas set up in 1942. Not it’s first military association as General Wade’s military road between Fort William and Fort Augustus, built in 1819 for the English forces to be more mobile, passed over the River Spean at this point.

Another quiet spot except at feeding time
