Monday 21 July 2014. Boiling hot. 3.2 engine hours. 16.6 nm.

Motored across Lake Boren and then had to wait over 2 hours to get up the Borenshult 5 lock flight. Frans went off for a bike ride and the ladies hid under the shade. Through Motala and out into Lake Vattern to head North. Unfortunately the wind was on the nose and as it was late in the day we decided to motor south and go to the historic town of Vastena. We took a space in the canal which leads to the castle moat and our lock partners 'Abalone' turned the bow a bit so we were wedged in between wooden poles and not sticking out too much.  Great view of the sunset from the boat.
Had a good walk around town the next morning. In addition to the Renaissance castle the town has an old abbey and convent. It's lake front setting and park area give the town a relaxed style so it's easy to see why it's a popular tourist spot.
