Sunday 31st August 2014. Motored along the canal and across Loch Ness, bright and not too cold. 20.8nm. 5.9 engine hours.

We collected our new crew, John and Evelyn, at Dochgarroch Lock which is a regular crew change spot for us as we got Sue and Jonny here last year. They settled in right away and got the hang of the locks no bother. We anchored in the anchorage at Urquart Castle on Loch Ness for lunch leaving plenty of room by the pier for the Jacobite Warrior cruise boat. The skipper clearly could not steer his boat in a large space as, to the amazement of his passengers, he went ballistic shouting and swearing at us - clearly we met the rudest man in Scotland.

Headed to the Loch Inn where, after extensive research last year, they have the best fish and chips in Scotland. It’s still good.
