Gertha is in Sunderland Marina and is feeling smug
as the biggest boat here. We arrived in the early hours of Tuesday morning and
had an exciting day yesterday seeing what cultural delights the city has to
offer. Jo was a particular fan of the glass museum.
The sail from Shotley had a bit of motoring though
light winds but mostly we made good progress north though the oil rigs and sand
banks found in the North Sea. We also had two dolphins for company for a time
who enjoyed playing with Getha's bow, and a whale cruised by not long
after.
Preparing to leave in the next few hours now the
worst of the strong winds have past. Aiming at Inverness in one hit but may end
up stopping in Peterhead or Lossiemouth depending on weather, time, mood of the
crew etc.
