After a very windy night (50+ knots recorded around the corner by the remote weather station) we started early this morning and had a very pleasant sail up from the Bay of Islands. We arrived at Whangaroa Township at about 1400, and went ashore for a bit of a walk and to buy some supplies. The afternoon was so warm and pleasant that we decided to drop into the Gamefish Club for a beer before returning to the boat. We then motored around to Rere Bay where we anchored and then rid ourselves of some out of date Sodastream tonic syrup (along with some Gin....)
Tomorrow we will climb to the top of the Duke's Nose, an imposing rock feature which overlooks the anchorage. We are all looking forward to Allan and Angus joining us next week for the passage to Tonga.
