A longish day (first for a while) - we sailed from Home Bay at Motutapu Island, across the Hauraki Gulf and then south along the Coromandel Peninsula to Great Mercury. We have anchored in a nice little cove which is billed as one of the best anchorages in New Zealand - who are we to disgree?

Shortly after we arrived a helicopter landed on the beach about 50m away...seems we have lobbed into an expensive suburb. Not to worry, nice to be able to enjoy the beauty of the place!

At this stage we are planning to remain here until Sunday, when we will head south to Whitianga. We don't have mobile coverage in this spot, but the Satphone is on, and we'll be updating the blog and using the equinox411 email address.

Until tomorrow, TTFN
