Yesterday we sailed and motored the 30nm from the Barrier to Kawau Is to continue our whirlwind tour of the Hauraki Gulf for Al. This morning we went for a long walk from Schoolhouse Bay in Bon Accord Harbour over to Mansion House Bay and back. Enroute we met Doug and Sandra of Frecinet II (an Australian yacht just arrived from the Pacific Islands) and their NZ friends Alan and Pam (off De La Mer) with whom they have been cruising. Later in the afternoon Doug came over for a chat and then we headed over to the Kawau Is Yacht Club for dinner.

The anchorages are beginning to fill up with visiting yachts, easily distinguished by their courtesy flags flying from their spreaders - there are lots of stories about the islands coming out as we talk to everyone, and we are getting excited about heading north next year.

Tomorrow we will return Alan to Auckland from where he will fly home to OZ, and we will spend the next few days working on the boat at GH - alternator upgrade on Monday (we hope!)
