Hi All,

Position at 1830 NZDT 36.46.067S 174.55.919E

We finally cast off from berth C67 at Gh for the last time this afternoon, and we are now on our way slowly towards the Marlborough Sounds. Every journey begins with the first step (or anchorage) and so we have returned to Home Bay on the eastern side of Motutapu Island for the night. Tomorrow we plan to sail across to the northern end of the Coromandel Peninsula, and if the wind holds in, we may make it to the Mercury Islands which are offshore form there.

Since yesterday we have had a busy time of it, with farewell drinks last night with some friends in the marina, a visit to Westhaven this morning to source some new alternator belts, and a quick drop off at our friend John's house where our new radar is being stored before we get it fitted in March on the return leg. GH has been a terrific spot, and we were in some ways sad to leave, especially after the Albom family put on a BBQ lunch for us. With Wanda the Honda sold, we are now carless and fancy free!

The blog should now be updated almost daily as we move around.

Until tomorrow,

TTFN!
