Weather on the improve!
Had a busy and somewhat frustrating 24 hours with
minor maintenance problems, slight sea water ingress into the freshwater tnk via
the breather, and having to beat 100nm to the west of Minerva Reef to make it.
By way of comparison, when we crossed the Tasman, it took 8.5 days to cover
1300nm, this time it will take 8 to cover 760. We still also have to make the
next leg of 260nm to Tonga, again awaiting favourable weather.
On the upside, Al has caught this morning a
whopping great Spanish Mackerel (1.25m) and he is again a happy man (had a bit
of grumpy real estate agent this morning at 0300 when he was rused for his
watch). We are now motorsailing on increasingly calm seas to cover the last 72
nm to North Minerva, were we should arrive at first light tomorrow.
The kids have been simply awesome - they seem to
handle being cooped up in 41 feet of plastic for eight days better than their
parents at times.
Will tell you te story from Minerva tomorow night,
hopefully having had a couple of ice-cold beers at anchor!
