Hi All, a long day, we departed Whitianga at about 0830 and had a mostly good day of sailing to get to Tauranga this evening. We are now further south than we have ever been in the boat.

Tauranga looks like a pretty interesting place - Mount Manganui at the entrance is a large volcanic feature, with a big statue of Kupe at its base. Kupe was the navigator who is reputed to have brought the Moari to NZ. Might climb up to the top of that hill tomorrow!
