Day 4: Becalmed in Biscay
Purple Mist

Day 4 has been entirely light winds , we started in 8-10kts upwind gently beating to the mark called Drheam cup to the west of the Ushant TSS Shipping lanes then rounded the mark and are now finally heading for the coast of France …and some much missed 4g signal
We are now down to 5kts with the S2 spinnaker gently gliding along not pointing at the next mark as it’s dead downwind ! We had to cross the lanes of busy ships and everything seemed very close as we were only doing 5kts . Anyway the ships were kind enough to move out of the way.
Given the light winds it’s not really warm, the breeze is still cool and I have my thermals on …In July !!
Today I fixed the S3 spinnaker as the broaching on Day 1 had torn the leech tape a bit. Also time for a bit of housekeeping , take the bins out (ie stuff in the crash bulkhead) wipe round with disinfectant and have myself a wash and brush up …well as far as you can get with baby wipes anyway.
We are in 132m depth and I suddenly remembered the flipping Orcas come into the bay of Biscay occasionally, actually I’ve decided I’d like to see one even if it does chew my rudder .
Moon is shining brightly tonight , no clouds
Breeze is now down to 3.5kts … it’s hard to keep up even 1 kt boat speed
