Day T minus 1….Yikes it’s tomorrow

The last full day on dry land for 18-21 days or so. We finally went out for a sail and it was great to be out on the water. It was 8-12kts of breeze with sunshine - champagne sailing and similar wind is expected tomorrow.
Purple Mist is really all set to go and the test sail went well. Our first mark of the course is set very close to our current marina so we had a practise run as it will involve a gybe close to the shore .
I’m glad we stayed down here in Puerto Calero as it’s allowed us to be more focussed and less distracted by other boats and people. We have a 2hr delivery tomorrow to the start but as the start is 14:10 it’s not really a problem.

Meanwhile the furry animal family has grown further with the introduction of a Tiddles the ships cat who joined Snoopy on the Port side whilst Pinky and Perky still smug from meeting Pip Hare yesterday were on Starboard. We will do a full furry family introduction later in the trip.

There was a skippers brief at 5pm so we went up to Marina Lanzarote again. We were interviewed by RORC media and they created a great “Dock-Talk” video that’s on my Instagram. There should be more coming from RORC media whilst we are racing.

Last task then was some weather routing . Huge thanks to both Jeremy and Richard for helping us set up that. It looks like going a bit South will give us more consistency in the wind but it’s 7-10 days away so we will be updating it throughout the trip . There is a patch of light winds mid Atlantic which is always good for the smaller boats to do well.

Finally I still feel calm and now getting quite excited about the trip . Next updare will be from the boat.
