Day 16/17: Chilling In Cascais

Cascais is lovely and it’s been nice to have 2 days off. Well 2 days doing mostly boat jobs and reprovisioning the stores but that’s a lot less stressful than Orca alert. Rob went home yesterday after a breakfast where he finally found Pastal de Nata (Custard Tarts) . I met up with a friend Silje who I know through the Magenta project. We had a nice evening of beers and good food catching up on things sailing.
Today I fixed a few more things , ordered some spares and then set to passage planning. I found the source of the 12v charger at the helm being a bit wobbly a corroded terminal which I cleaned up.
The next stop is Sines and there has been about 5 boats now attacked in the last week including 4 boats today taking the direct route in deeper water, so we shall be hugging the shore very closely. Tomorrow is probably the most Orca risk day then I’m really looking forward to not having the pesky buggers hunting me down. So it’s an early start as it’s extra miles to hug the coast.
New crew Ian arrived this afternoon and is now all settled in.
