Morning has broken and what a lovely sunny day it is. The trip across the Celtic sea was fast and furious with 20-30kts downwind. We flew the J2 and full main and shied away from any spinnakers.
By the Scillies the wind has dropped so we hoisted the S2 and are trucking along nicely. One more gybe and we should be on track for the finish..ETA 7pm to Midnight.....though offshore races are rarely that easy and PM doesn’t like finishing in the dark so watch this space.
As we go round the Lizard it reminds me of the AZAB finish which was only 6 weeks ago...seems like yesterday....though I’m not missing the 48hrs of easterly gale force 9 we had then.
Spirits are good on board, we’ve run out of muesli bars but plenty of other snacks still to keep us going.
Wildlife has been a bit low this trip. Saw a dead seal of the Scillies on the way out, some potential puffins at the rock....though they might have been guillemots...and one lone dolphin. Lots of gannets and guillemots though so the puffins have a few friends to say hi too. Talking of puffins they are sat in a wet heap under the coats so I better get them out to dry.
