We went ashore by dinghy to check in at the Capitainerie which was
straightforward. Being French they have provided an online system to enter
the data ourselves and print off for them to stamp and collect their €5
fee. They didn’t even check passports or our clearance papers from St
Lucia.
We had a coffee at the adjacent bar ‘Mayday’ and discovered they had good
internet. Then a stroll around several chandleries which were well stocked
as they often are in France. A dinghy tour around the bay took us to a
dock near the Zanzibar restaurant where we had a very nice lunch which we
enjoyed so much we returned for dinner the same evening. All beautifully
done to a French standard.
On Saturday I noticed our fridge was switching off and then on again about
4 seconds later. The switching off was being caused by low voltage from
our house batteries which it seems were knackered. They were replaced in
Marmaris in May 2011, less than 3 years ago, but being sealed ‘low maintenance’
batteries they cannot be topped up when they boil off during heavy
charging. No doubt the electrolyte is too low and the plates are becoming
exposed, or something like that!
