Lin was surprised that I had managed to find Birthday cards and that they weren’t from a petrol station.  We hired a car for a couple of days and for a special birthday treat I took Lin on a tour of the chandleries and hardware shops to get yet more boat bits.

Lunch was at the Mount Cinnamon Beach Club, one of Peter de Savary’s enterprises that he picked up, apparently for a song, after hurricane Ivan ripped through Grenada in 2004.  The beach bar is in a very nice setting on Grand Anse beach.

Perhaps it’s not so bad to be in Grenada for Lin’s birthday after all:-:-

In the afternoon we had a ‘Couples Massage’ at the spa at Port Louis Marina.  This involves us both being in the same room on adjacent beds whilst two masseuses did their thing, in case you were wondering.  Very pleasant and relaxing.

We went back to the boat in the late afternoon and returned to the shore by dinghy in the evening to go out to dinner at The Aquarium.  As I was taking the padlock which locks the dinghy out of my pocket we both heard a gentle splash as the keys for the hire car left my pocket and landed in the water.  It was already dark and the water too deep to recover the keys from the jetty so we couldn’t drive to the restaurant.  Happy Birthday Linnie.

We called George, our local shopping mini bus driver,  who came to the rescue and got us to the restaurant about 20 minutes late.  In Grenada time that meant we were early. We both had a lovely lobster dinner and Lin enjoyed Lobster Thermidor – her favourite.

The following day I was up early and spent the morning snorkelling in the murky water trying to find the car keys but with no luck.  Lots of people asked what I was doing of course and one English guy living in Grenada offered to go and get his large ‘magnet on a string’.  He came back about an hour later and I was able to retrieve the keys after 20 minutes.  Phew.  I gratefully returned his magnet later with a few ‘tinnies’.

On Friday we visited a dermatologist.  We came across her details on Beyzano’s website and thought we would use the downtime to have our skin checked over.  All clear.
