Good sailing conditions during the day yesterday on a broad reach and
reasonable speed to manage the waves. We took in some 'laundry' overnight
so we can handle squalls without having to reef (and waking up the off-watch
person).
Yesterday was another shower day - luxury. We also put 60 litres of
water into the tanks via the watermaker in the afternoon. The sea temp is
increasing slighly - now about 24 degrees - in Lin's world that's still
'freezing' but it's progress.
This was taken last Friday in benign conditions. The sails are
'goosewinged' with the wind from virtually dead behind. The genoa is held
out by a pole which is held fixed by lines down fore and aft and a
third line as an uphaul. This is to keep the sail as flat and steady as
possible to reduce rolling:-
