The wind started to blow directly on to the quay yesterday so we left and anchored across the bay where it was more sheltered.  We are happy to report that the anchor windlass worked!

We decided to make for the Greek mainland today after all.  We left about midday expecting an overnight sail.  Depending on the weather we would either sail to the east coast of the Peleponese to Monemvasia and wait for the weather gods, or carry on to the Elafonisos islands which are 10 or 15 miles beyond Cape Malea.

We managed to sail for the first 3 or 4 hours but the wind died and we motored the rest of the way.  We were getting some help from some current and rounded Malea at 10 in the evening in benign conditions.  We watched the various navigation lights as they helped us on our way in the dark and fetched up at an anchorage on Elafonisos at midnight.  All in all an uneventful trip with the worst cape now behind us.
