Lin went to the large Morrisons on Monday and did a 'mega shop' for mainly tinned items for the big trip and then spent 3 hours finding a home for it all.  These are the fall back provisions for when fresh food has run out during the 3 week Atlantic crossing.

I had another go at the fresh water system and found that I had damaged a diaphragm on the pump when I had reassembled it recently so I had introduced a second problem into the system at some point.  The new clear pipework had made it simple to see that air had been getting in at the pump, as it had earlier in tracing the crack on the pump pre-filter.  Problem solved this time.

We met Ted, the 'Hydrovane fitter' (he is retired - it's more of a hobby for him really) on Monday and we made a start by measuring up the job on Wednesday so I could visit various builders and plumbers merchants to get pipes, nuts and bolts.  I trolled around Gib in mid afternoon only to find each place closing just ahead of me for 'summer hours' !

I cleared the Hydrovane through Customs on Tuesday and collected it from the courier.  It was all very straightforward and the agent and Customs were efficient and pleasant.

The row of houses in the background are large and are mostly large 'semis'.  They are built on the breakwater between the marina and the bay.  Their external walling is made from a dry-wall type of panelling that you can throw a boulder through (someone has).  Easy access with a chainsaw.  Not bad for £5 million (the houses, not the chainsaw!)..
