Another quiet day with reasonable seas most of the time and sunny.  We both had showers again yesterday.

I saw some lights on the horizon to the north about 5 am.  Eventually it showed briefly on the AIS as a vessel with restricted manoeuvrability.  It looked like a towing vessel because it had powerful lights trained on an something following behind.

Later I was sleeping quite happily in the aft cabin when I was woken by something soft and slimy flapping about on my stomach.  I jumped up, emitted a girly scream and eventually got the lights on to see a flying fish in bed with me.  He had managed to fly through the narrow open portlight which faces aft.  My first attempt at picking it up failed and I dropped it back on the bed in another place by which time Lin was with me wondering what I was wimping about.  The second catch worked and I launched Mr fishy back into the briny.  We removed the bedding and I went back to sleep.

I couldn't help thinking about this poor fish who must have been bewildered - he launches for a a quick flying session, hits the portlight opening, lands on something strange (that's me and the bedding) and ends up back where he started with no effort on his part.  He must have wondered what was going on and whether he dares go flying again.
