We took the mainsail off and bundled it into it’s bag and into the dinghy
to take it ashore to inspect and fold properly. Fortunately Rob and Rhian
from Beyzano were ashore and helped us to spread the sail out on the ground and
hold it down in the wind whilst we checked it over. Not a pretty sight but
the sail looked better than it did flailing about in the air. Rob and
Rhian helped us to fold the sail neatly and put it in it’s bag for collection by
Turbulence on Monday. Martin arrived at 2pm as planned and his initial
view was that the sail might be repairable. In the event it was and was
returned to us 5 days later on Friday. We obtained quotes for new sails
just in case and we were glad not to have to face those eye watering costs just
yet.
We called Palm Tree Marine to enquire about their ‘fuel polishing’ service
and booked to have that done on Monday 27 January at Le Phare Bleu Marina, about
6 miles to the east. We settled down to a week of more Mexican Train,
shopping buses etc.
It continued to be very wet all week – here is a rainbow in Mount Hartman
Bay looking across to Secret Harbour Marina:-
